A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Australian Bush Fires Collection, the sum of £277.00 was collected which was rounded up to £350.00 by the JNA.  The money was given to the WWF and a letter of thanks, shown below, has been received.  A copy of the letter has also been put on the Jersey Netball facebook page.

              Thank you so much for responding to our emergency Australia Fire appeal and for your generous donation of £350.00 to help save the area's precious wildlife and support our long-term work to tackle the climate crisis.
 
              The battles we fight are not easily won, but we need to be ambitious to reverse the devastating loss of nature. We’re determined to change hearts and minds to make it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to degrade our planet’s precious natural resources.
 
              We’re tackling the main problems that are driving nature’s decline – notably deforestation through our food system and climate change. We couldn’t achieve any of this without our supporters, so thank you once again – together we can achieve great things - together we can #fightforourworld.

The Saltgate section 1 youth tournament took place tonight as a culmination of the Saltgate Youth League which has been running this term.  

A competitive evening of netball showcased the next generation of Jersey netballers currently in years 8 and 9. Congratulations to all the players and coaches involved and a huge thank you to the umpires and Wendy Luce for running the results table. Thank you also to our sponsors Saltgate.

Congratulations to Accies who beat all the opposition to win the Mary Blake Tournament, now in its 27th year, that took place on Monday evening.  Sadly Mary Blake passed away in 2015 but we keep her beloved tournament going in her honour. Mary was President of the JNA before becoming Honorary President, then taking over from Joyce Norman as Lady Patron. 

Mary was a wonderful stalwart of Jersey Netball and she passed on to many of us her infectious love of the game. Her inspirational leadership continues as we strive to keep netball going for everyone. 

With the reigning champions of the last 5 years, St Lawrence, sadly unable to field a team this year it meant new winners were guaranteed. Accies faced tough opposition though and didn't have an easy ride.

It was a fight to the end against 2nd placed St Clement, with whom they have previous battled for second spot. The 'young' Accies side with a combined age of 253 however edged a good lead before the close of the second half. St Clement's experience was however telling as the used their combined age of 502 years to their advantage! They came out fighting in the second half stringing together a number of goals and unsettling the eventual winners. But Accies did enough to win 15 v 12.

The match between St Brelade, made up almost entirely of defensive players from their 2 squads, and "St Saviour", technically a mixture of individuals from 3 winter league clubs (St Saviour, St Ouen and St Lawrence), was the closest game with St Saviour winning 7-3. Both sides having not played together before nor knowing their individual members' playing styles which meant that the first half saw relatively few goals as both sides struggled to get the ball in to the circle.  St Saviour’s recovered first with some fantastic flying interceptions from Michaela Graham (St Ouen’s A) and their shooter Helen Bourke (St Saviour C) gaining confidence from playing against a Division 2 defence trio.  St Brelade's centre suffered an injury in the 2nd half leaving the side with just 6 players early on the tournament but the change in line up forced their attack to change their playing style which proved beneficial as goals started to be scored. 
 
In the true spirit of Jersey Netball, St Clement offered to plug the gap from St Brelade's injury in the first half of their game. This proved to be mildly confusing but very amusing for both sides. St Clement's GS Dawn Heard was on form with each goal hitting its target giving them a healthy win.

The JNA is very pleased to confirm that we have had Charitable Status confirmed today and is Registered Charity No.132. A huge thank you on behalf of the JNA to our Junior Vice President Liz Olim for all her hard work in completing the application.

Congratulations to all the players involved in our annual U11 & U12/U13 Jersey Games Tournament. Visiting teams Lord Wandsworth, Hall Grove and St Peters were over for a brilliant tournament with lots of fantastic netball on display.

A massive congratulations to U11 winners Jersey Reds, runners up were visiting team Hall Grove. Accies Allstars claimed the title of the U12/U13 tournament with Convent U12’s as runners up.

Thank you to all the umpires, coaches, parents and players for an amazing day, lots of exciting players to watch out for.

Lisa Luce and Caren Yates have both passed their C Award Umpiring qualification and will be a welcome boost to the number of qualified officiators in the island. Congratulations to them both.
