Proud sponsors of the performance programme

The National Performance League

The Regional Performance Academy is a new layer to the pathway from July 2013 and aligns closely to the National Academy Programme. This new component of the Performance Pathway will ensure the most promising U19s can access high quality training programmes in their region. The Performance Academy is held at the University of Bath and operates for 48 weeks of the year and between 6-10 hours a week.

Players who attend the Academy are currently in the National Academy or demonstrate the potential to progress towards National level programmes and competitions. The Academy is linked closely to Team Bath to ensure players can access England Netball Performance competitions. Athletes should also be competing in appropriate club (regional and/or national leagues) and college or university competitions. Athletes may also be selected to play in the Netball Performance League.

The Netball Performance League
(NPL) succeeded England Netball’s former Netball Talent League. The league offers young netball players, under the age of 19 , an opportunity to hone and develop their talent in a competitive environment.

The NPL consists of 10 teams, covering 9 English regions and Cardiff.

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July 2014

The weekend of the 6th/7th July 2014 saw the introduction of the ‘Netball
Performance Foundation League’ (NPFL), hosted at Redbridge Sport and Leisure Centre, Essex. The competition brought together the best U17 athletes in the country; providing a high pressure, high intensity environment, the type they may go onto experience in the NPL, NSL or on the international stage.

Regions were invited to enter one team per Regional Academy, providing a total of twelve teams for the weekend.  The teams competed in two ‘round robin’ pools on Day One, with games being played back to back across three courts.
Playing for the Plate were ‘East 1’ and ‘South West 2’ who both finished Day Two on 21 points! Ebony Troy captained the SW2 squad with Jodie Blampied as Vice-Captain. Unfortunately although Rebecca Forrest was selected to play she was unable to compete due to injury.

The Cup Final was to be played between ‘Yorkshire’, who finished on 19 points, and ‘South West 1’ who finished on 18 points. Anya Le Monnier
competed in the SW1 squad. At half time of the Plate Final, the scores were level at 8-8, with both teams battling hard to be victorious.  The second half was extremely tense and with seconds left on the clock ‘East 2’ made a vital turnover, unfortunately for them the hooter sounded before they could convert and the final score was announced 13-12 to ‘South West 2’.

The last game of the weekend was the Cup Final, and with ‘Yorkshire’ winning the group by 1 point it was destined to be an exciting game. ‘Yorkshire’ dominated the first half, and continued their success in the second half winning the game 13-7.

Congratulations to ‘Yorkshire’, who were worthy winners of the first ever NPFL competition! And well done to Anya, Jodie, Ebony and Rebecca who have worked so hard to reach this level.

Three members of the Jersey Netball PwCs Academy have been selected to trial at Regional Screening at the University of Bath's Sports Training Village on Tuesday 18th February 2014. Successful athletes will be selected for National Screening in an attempt to secure a place in England Netball's National Academy.
